The Benchwarmer cocktail.

Drink this Gatorade-spiked (really) cocktail in honor of your favorite player sitting on the bench during the Super Bowl... or when you're sitting on the bench warming up for your Super Bowl drinking games. The Benchwarmer is served at New York City's Whiskey Park.

  • 2 Ounces Gatorade G2 Fruit Punch
  • 3-4 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 lemon slice
  • Club soda, to top

Cocktail of the week: Rita’s El Sol en Soho – recipe

T his twist on the classic tequila sunrise will hopefully be on the menu at our new site in Soho in the not too distant future. The original sunrise and the orange and grenadine concoction more commonly known today are both pretty basic, and this pays homage to the 1930s recipe, making it less juice-heavy and a little more complex flavour-wise, while retaining its signature, ombré look.

This delightful perry from Blackduck comes out of the Finger Lakes in New York. Made mostly from foraged pears with a bit of culinary pears added to the final blend, the unfiltered perry is uncarbonated but light enough so it doesn’t feel flat or syrupy. Drinking this perry takes you from a sweet start to a powerful sour finish that leads you right back into your next sip.

Argus Cidery from Austin was one of the first cideries in Central Texas and has been churning out dry ciders for almost a decade. The Ginger Perry is no exception to the theme of bone-dry drinks, showing off the delicateness of the fruit and carrying all of that ripe pear flavor over into the drink. The spicy ginger finish is just enough to set this perry apart from others you may have tried.

Our family loves boating up here to Benchwarmer’s. This place is our favorite. Food is great. Service is excellent. If there were 10 stars that would be my whole crews rating.

The waitress is friendly and efficient. The food is very good. My primary concern is the fact that we are dealing with a pandemic. I did not see any indicator that anyone understands that wearing facemasks is one major step in preventing the spread of COVID-19. That made me nervous. Next door is the liquor store. No plastic shield by the cash register. The cashier not wearing a mask. No precautions taken to keep customers safe. At this time, this is a serious concern. I want to support our local businesses but expect them to do their part in keeping customers safe. I will return for the good food when these precautions are put in place. Otherwise, I will cook at home.

Ready-to-Drink Cocktails Are Here to Stay & These Are the Best Ones Available

Is it just us, or are canned cocktails totally a thing now? For the longest time it seemed like everyone looked down on canned drinks, but slowly, they took over. First, fancy craft beers returned to cans over bottles, and then, we started seeing more and more canned wines come onto the market. Next thing we know, a full-blown canned cocktail boom was on our hands!

Our mission at SheKnows is to empower and inspire women, and we only feature products we think you&rsquoll love as much as we do. Please note that if you purchase something by clicking on a link within this story, we may receive a small commission of the sale.

Canned cocktails are perfect for summer. We’re always off adventuring when the weather gets warm, and the last thing we want to have to drag to the beach with us is all of the ingredients and supplies needed to shake up a few drinks.

That’s where the new generation of tasty canned cocktails comes in. Fizzy and fruity, tart and tangy, classic and creative, there’s a canned cocktail out their for every palate. Interested in tasting a few for yourself? Here are some of our favorite canned cocktails to try.

  • Fun Football Grab Bags – Brown paper bags with a little paint make snacking fun.
  • DIY Football Banner – Don’t buy it, make it from items you have like craft paper, twine and chalk.
  • X + O Table Runner – This football-themed runner is made with brown craft paper + marker scribbles.
  • Benchwarmer Brownies – No time to make brownies from scratch? Pick some yummies up from the Walmart Grocery Pick up and give them some finishing touches.
  • Chalk it Up – Simple mini chalkboard signs were perfect for our football playoff party set up.
  • Solo Cup Fix Up – A little washi tape spruces up boring plastic cups.

Fermented Citrus Garibaldi

When making Negronis at scale, a lot of zestless oranges are left hanging around. Matthew Bax, owner and head bartender of Bar Americano in Melbourne, put those naked oranges to good use in his Fermented Citrus Garibaldi. “Fermentation is a great way to bring a new life to discarded produce,” says Bax. A kombucha SCOBY is fed with orange juice, sugar and a house blend of Italian vermouth. When the batch is ready, it’s strained, chilled and combined with Campari, Aperol and orange bitters. “Good oranges don’t need much more help than Campari and Aperol,” says Bax. The drink is then batched in single-serve Garibaldi-branded soda bottles and poured into a double Old-Fashioned glass over a large ice cube, along with a splash of fresh orange juice.

They'll make you laugh, cry, and even possibly want to play sports?
